These two got married on one of the HOTTEST days of the year
Seriously, it was almost kind of unbelievable. Maybe it's because I'm sitting at the end of winter on the edge of spring, waiting to see sunlight like my life depends on it. But really, it was HOT. I'm pretty comfortable in heat, and I am used to long days in the summer sun shooting weddings but this was someee heattt. Nevertheless, it was just fine. And it was absolutely stunning.
When I met with Amber & Quaid, they told me me their love story and shared with me so many interesting details about themselves that I instantly felt connected with them. I knew I had to shoot their day and I knew the energy was going to be one of a kind. Kindred spirits on an incredible journey. These two wanted their day to be all about their love and connection, and it was exactly that. Amber was absolutely jaw-dropping in her bridal attire and Quaid's smile when he looked at her was so touching. You know when you see people who are meant-to-be on a whole 'nother level? That's these two.

Their ceremony planned at a beautiful nature park was filled with beautiful touches. Ring warming, incredible stories and heartfelt moments. Once they had tied the knot, I whisked them off to the shady forest to read each other private vows. More beautiful moments were shared between them while I captured the memories candidly.
These two wanted their day to be on the documentary side when it came to photography. While I generally consider myself a documenter and director, switching roles based on the moment of the day- for this one I took a step back. There were times I offered very gentle direction but I generally let the day and moments unfold as it was.
Once they had finished reading their letters to each other in private, we captured some fun wedding party photos, and family formals. From there we headed off to Mount Doug for their couples portraits before their reception.

Their reception was so lovely. Hosted at Breakwater Bistro & Bar right on the water in Victoria it was such a quaint and beautiful space for their gathering. Catered by their food truck, it provided a fun, interactive yet elegant atmosphere. Their speeches were so heartfelt and fun, and the emotions felt during them are still fresh it mind. It was an absolutely beautiful evening. To be honest, I have so many parts of a wedding day that I love capturing so much and all for different reasons. The downtime for candids during a reception, I really like. It's hard to describe but it's like looking with your eyes, and your heart while keeping your clients in mind catching things they would want to remember, that maybe they saw or didn't get to see. People are mingling, relaxing, laughing and it's just the best.
I'm so happy to have been part of these twos day and to witness their beautiful energy and commitment to each other. It's always an honour to be there to capture your most important celebrations in life, and this event was no exception.
