This was such a special wedding day. I actually met Brittany years before her wedding when she agreed to model for me when I was first starting my business. I still remember that day so clearly! We met up in the Nanaimo Harbour and explored a few fun spots for some portraits. It was such a great time.
Fast forward some years, and she hired me to photograph her wedding! Her and Nathan were planning their wedding at The Beach Club resort in Parksville, BC. It's right on Parksville Community Beach and such a lovely spot. Stunning ocean views, the boardwalk and of course, epic sunsets.
I don't know what it is about this spot, but it has always surprised myself and my couples getting married there with the best weather, just in the nick of time!
I always think it's so beneficial when couples choose a venue that checks all the boxes. Somewhere you can get ready, a place for your ceremony, spots close by for portraits and a space to hold your reception. The Beach Club has all that and more. I truly love the rooms with the ocean views, the lawn for ceremonies and you're basically a hop away from the boardwalk & beach. This also makes it perfect for sneaking off for sunset photos. Not to mention, all my couples that get married there want the epic staircase photos!
In addition, I'm pretty sure I've said it in other blog posts, but in my opinion, sunset photos are as close to a "must-do" as you can get. Not only are you going to get beautiful, golden hour or sunset light but you are also getting some time to relax together which is rare. Not to mention you're officially married, you've had a chance to sit down, you've eaten and you're ready just to enjoy the rest of the day.
Being there to capture the day for these two and their sweet family was honestly so special. They moved through their day with grace and were so ready for all the things. We had so much fun exploring and finding the best spots. This day will forever hold a special place in my heart!
