Writing these blog posts...

has honestly become such a special part of my week. I really love reflecting on last years celebrations that I captured. There is definitely something cathartic about it. So much goes into every couples big day and I love being there to capture all of it. I like to think I put a lot into their celebrations as well. Planning, organizing, dreaming, consulting, and of course the actual photography and editing! When all I share is a few images and a caption on social media, it just doesn't really sum it up, does it? Like a whole day and one of the biggest days of my couples lives, it deserves more words!

Liz & Ben had their intimate wedding on Gabriola Island. It started with a lovely first look in a quiet and intimate space at a family property. Taking in the ocean views and seeing each other for the first time before their sweet ceremony in the quiet atmosphere was so touching, and definitely set the tone for the day.We even took a few portraits before it was time for them to walk down the aisle!

When I really consider it, I think ceremonies are the time in my life when I am most focused. It's a total flow state. Reading the queues, knowing where to move and when to be ready. Every ceremony is different and I always find little surprises when taking in all thats happening around me. A true documentary moment.

These lovely humans tied the knot on the sunny terrace of the beautiful home with their nearest and dearest. There was laughter, tears, pride, joy and just downright beaming faces. This was such a glorious day.

Post ceremony, we opted for some shade during group photos and then -I whisked them off to the Malaspina Galleries! If you haven't been, it's an incredible sight to see. The sandstone has been eroded by salt to create this natural rip curl in the side of the island that you can walk in. The way the light reflects, the texture and shapes- a photographers dream. I adore taking couples there. We listened to music while we explored the stunning coast and they brought friends along! It's like I always tell my couples, your day is yours. If you want someone else to be there during your couples portraits or want to bring your pup with you (HINT they did both :)) then by all means. It was lovely.

After our little adventure, it was time to get these two back to their loved ones for cake and a champagne toast! This was the final part of their photography coverage before settling into enjoying company and a special dinner that evening.

I just have to say, I love how my couples all plan their day. What's true to them, what feels good and what aligns with how they like to celebrate. I am so lucky to be here for these moments.

I really, really love my job.
