Stonebridge Island, Salt Spring Wedding | Alex & James

I was so excited when Alex & James reached out for photography for their wedding at Stonebridge Island Farm on Salt Spring Island. It's a truly stunning venue. Rustic charm, rolling hills, incredible sunsets and the most beautiful barn for receptions. I've captured a number of weddings there now, and I am absolutely obsessed.

These two were planning a fun and elegant wedding bringing together their favourite people from near and far. As they had many guests travelling quite the distance, it was important to spend lots of time with everyone and enjoying company.

Their coverage started with getting ready photos. This is always such a fun and special part of the day and I love documenting it. The groom and groomsmen were getting ready at The Cottages on Salt Spring Island and it was a great way to start the day! Ties, boutonnieres, cheers and we were off! Then it was off to Southey Point Beach for their first look and portraits before spending time with the bride and bridesmaids before the ceremony! The weather was spectacular, the ocean was sparkling!

It was time for the ceremony! Atop the rolling hills, they had a beautiful setup with florals creating a splash of colours for this celebration. It was heartfelt, meaningful and hot (as a July wedding is!)

We snuck away right after the ceremony for a few extra portraits before starting family photos!

Cocktail hour was just getting started and after family photos had wrapped, we moved onto photos of the wedding party! We had fun in the sun capturing laughs and candid moments before heading over to cocktail hour!

The cocktail hour had started when we arrived and it was a beautiful way to mingle and relax before the reception. Travel Bar was set up outside the barn and drinks were flowing, the sun was shining. What more do you need?

I captured some details of their reception space while still pristine and then some candids of everyone relaxing! This is always a great time of day. Everyone is smiling, hugging and congratulating. Nerves have eased and dinner's almost ready!

Dinner time! I know when Mensch is on the scene, the food is going to be top notch. It was time and everyone was ready to head into the beautiful reception space. Super fun speeches, awesome food shenanigans in the amazing barn space.

The evening wrapped with gorgeous golden hour photos in the field which was stunning, calm and perfect. Every time I take photos with couples in this field- at least one car drives by on the road in the distance and honks congratulations. It's so fun. Back to the barn for dancing and fun. It was the perfect end to a perfect day!
